“Sandy Springs: Then & Now” Exhibit
6075 Sandy Springs Cir
Sandy Springs, GA 30328
As Sandy Springs looks forward to a new City Center, we are reminded that this is a town of constant growth and development. Amid this progress, “Sandy Springs: Then & Now” remembers the past as we move forward. The two-gallery exhibit uses historic photographs, modern studio art, and multimedia components to mirror the past with the present.
The first gallery displays photographs from the archives at HSS. In connection to each image, visitors will find a modern interpretation of the same historic location’s present-day identity created by student artists in their choice of medium.
The second gallery is a dynamic representation of Sandy Springs through audio-visual media. For the first time, HSS has incorporated the many oral history memoirs held in our collection into an exhibit. In addition, integrated with the oral history montage are current residents’ commentaries on life in Sandy Springs. The combination of still and dynamic art forms, visual and audio representations, and the participation of multiple age groups makes it an engaging exhibit for all.
Sandy Springs: Then & Now is presented in partnership with the Spruill Center for the Arts; sponsored by the Georgia Humanities Council and Fulton County Arts Council.
